Our church has a small staff - Secretary, Custodian, and Pastor.
Meet them below.

Secretary
Amanda Willmott
Amanda was born in De Smet, South Dakota, and later
moved to Sioux Falls, where she graduated from Sioux
Falls Roosevelt High School. She met her husband, Jason Willmott, and together they made their home on a farm near White, SD. Their small farm is full of life, including cows, chickens, and their dog, Snickers.
Jason and Amanda will celebrate 15 years of marriage in January 2026. They are proud parents to two daughters: Gabby (13), who is in 7th grade, and Macy (10), who is in 4th grade.

Amanda stays very busy, working full-time as an Activity
Director for Forte Living in Brookings. She joined
Leganger Lutheran Church in January 2025 and serves
faithfully as our secretary.

In her free time, Amanda enjoys baking, playing games
with her family, and cheering on her girls at their
sporting events.

Custodian
Deb Sumner Thompson
Deb was born May 11, 1958 (Mother's Day) to Darrel and Arlene Thompson. Her first home was the Thompson homestead north of Toronto, before moving to town when she was 1 and a half. Her younger siblings, Ronda and Rollie were born when she was 3 and 6, respectively. After graduating from Deubrook she got to see Elvis in Sioux Falls in June of '77. She grew up helping her Dad with the trucks and airplanes. Though she wanted to be a truck driver, the White Care Center opened in 1978 and she then worked there for 37 years until it closed.

In Dec. 1989 she married Clayton Sumner. It was his idea to keep her maiden name along with his name. So, she became Debra Lea Thompson Sumner. Clayton died Dec. 2007.

She helped her mom with the yard and flowers. She loves to cook and enjoyed taking the farm crew big meals. She also enjoys history and has traveled to both coasts.

Leganger means a lot to Deb and her family. Her great Grandpa Fred Larson was the first funeral. Her Dad, Darrel welded the bell into place along with Dale Larson's help, his cousin. Her brother Rollie has kept up the maintenance on the bell since.

God, family, and her cats are her first priorities, and her love of this town and community too. She considers this town to be like her family.

Pastor
Katie Pauly
A 2022 graduate from Sioux Falls Seminary, she was ordained for Ministry at Leganger Lutheran in Toronto, SD on September 17th, 2022. She was then installed as Pastor the next day during worship.
She is married to Joel who is from the Martin, SD area. They found a home in Baltic. They welcomed a daughter in September of 2024. When she and Joel are not working, they enjoy playing with their daughter or playing cards.
The household pets are a joy to all too - a dog and cat. Katie grew up in SD, having been born in Aberdeen before moving to Sioux Falls, then Hartford.
